Nicole and Joe’s New York State of Bliss Proposal Story

During the hot summer month of August, we ran a competition here at Charles Nobel to win £100 to spend in-store toward your wedding rings. All you had to do was share how you or your fiancé(e) proposed. 

Nicole wrote to tell us about the incredibly romantic proposal from her now fiancé, Joe, and they have been picked as the winners out of the many amazing stories we have received. Congratulations!

A match made in music heaven

After meeting at the Isle of Wight festival in 2011 through mutual friends, a few months passed with no communication. One day, Nicole was on a bus that happened to pull up at a stop where Joe was walking out of a shop. Joe signalled to Nicole to get off the bus and the rest, as they say, is history.

A timely proposal

Nicole had been travelling around the USA with her best friend and was on the last leg of her journey in New York. As excited as she was to visit this city, she was also looking forward to getting back home to Joe after a month apart. This reunion came sooner than Nicole expected as she felt a tap on her shoulder in the hotel reception and turned around to see Joe, who had flown from the UK to surprise her.

And the romance doesn’t stop there – following a day of exploring, the happy couple were sitting on the steps at Times Square, surrounded by the buzz and neon lights of the night. Nicole asked whether her nagging at Joe to come travelling had been the reason for his visit. ‘Well, there was one other reason…’ he said, twisting to the side and popping the question.  Nicole had ‘never experienced something so romantic’ and they sat at the ‘Crossroads of the World’ for hours together, watching the rest of the world go by.
