We understand how incredibly important proposing to your loved one is, and how you want the moment to be absolutely perfect. That’s why we have created a simple step-by-step guide to help you plan your proposal exactly how you want it.
Your future fiancé fell in love with you for being you. So incorporate this into your proposal. Try not to get too wrapped up in every single minor detail of the proposal, as this will overcomplicate things, could stress you out, and take away from the authenticity of your grand gesture.
Incorporate the uniqueness and personality of your relationship into your proposal and make it as creative as you can. Avoid copying other people’s proposal ideas. Are you spontaneous? Romantic? Unconventional? Make sure your proposal stays true to the way your relationship works and who the two of you are as people.
Why not pop the question in a special location that is meaningful to the both of you? For example, the place you first met or had your first date. If your location holds a sentimental value, it is likely to be more romantic and memorable.
Would your partner prefer to share this moment with the other important people in their life? If the answer is yes, then a public proposal would be perfect for you. However, if your partner would prefer the moment to be more intimate and just be about the two of you, then a private proposal would be more appropriate.f
Proposing to your loved one is a very important moment in both of your lives, and therefore should be carefully considered and planned out beforehand. You will need to think about: when and where will you propose. Who else needs to be involved on the day, or in the planning? Is there anything that you need to book, source or rehearse ahead of time?
Explain why you want to spend the rest of your life with your partner. Tell them why they’re the one for you and always make sure you speak from the heart. You could even practice what you’re going to say beforehand to make sure you’re extra prepared.
You don’t want the proposal to be carried out on impulse, however, you do still want to surprise your loved one. Try not to tell too many people about your proposal plans, as this reduces the risk of one of those people accidentally letting it slip.
Your future fiancé will want to remember this day for the rest of their life so make that the whole day is memorable, not just the moment. Keep the surprises coming all day and treat your partner by taking them to dinner or making them breakfast in bed.
Take photographs so you and your partner can look back on this special moment for the rest of your lives. You could even hire a professional photographer to capture the proposal as it’s happening. To ensure the surprise isn’t ruined, you can tell the photographer to position themselves out of the way and out of site.
Even though this may commonly be seen as being old-fashioned advice, it is still very respectful to ask for their parents’ blessing. Both they and their family will greatly appreciate the gesture.
Picking the perfect engagement ring is probably THE most important part of any proposal. It is crucial that you spend time researching your partner’s specific style and discover what they like and dislike. This could be achieved by looking through their jewellery box at any rings they currently own. By doing this you can also discover what their ring size is.
