Over the last decade or so, the certification of diamonds has become increasingly predominant and is an extremely useful tool in the selection of diamonds, for both the retailer and the customer. The diamonds that we offer our clients are individually selected, so that we offer only the very best stones available in each and every grading criteria.
There are many companies offering certification services, but GIA (Gemmological Institute of America), IGI (International Gemmological Institute) and HRD Antwerp are considered to be the principal trade leaders. It is by these three companies that the majority of both our loose and set diamonds are assessed.
When a diamond is graded, it goes through four main processes, each of which can be seen here.
The processes focus predominantly on colour, clarity, cut and carat. Colour and clarity are assessed by eye, whilst the cut of a diamond is often assessed by technology, and the carat is calculated on high precision scales.
